Venue: NFSA Arc Cinema.

The Woman Suffers is a controversial melodrama from 1918. Reconstructed on video by the NFSA and screening with an original music score by Donald Hollier, the film is one of the few surviving silent cinema productions of Lottie Lyell and partner Raymond Longford. Lottie's legacy encompasses strong roles for women both on screen and behind the camera.

The screening will include an introduction and post-screening Q&A with former NFSA staff member Marilyn Dooley.
